A2 Physics - Circular Motion & Oscillations

Circular Motion 2

20 marks over 10 questions.
Write superscript as a normal number
e.g. ms-1 = ms-1

Each question is about a different scenario where circular motion is present. To help you practice the questions faster, you are simply given the values, without a special explanation.

You are given: v = r ω

The unit for radians is rad.
1. a) What is the angular displacement when s = 5.0 m and r = 2.0 m? [2]
b) What about when s = 0.3 km and r = 60 m? [2]
2. What is the angular speed if θ = 20 radians and t = 5 s? [2]
3. What is the angular speed to 3.s.f if t = 0.5 s and θ = 270°? [2]
4. Find ω to 2.s.f. when T = 5 s. [2]
5. What is the frequency when ω = π rad s-1? [2]
6. Find the centripetal force where ω = 5 rad s-1 and r = 10 m. [2]
7. Find the radius to 2.s.f. when a = 90 ms-2 and ω = 4.0 rad s-1. [2]
8. What is the tension in the string when ω = 2 rad s-1, m = 9 kg, r = 2 m? [2]
9. What is the mass when F = 150 N, ω = π rads s-1 and r = 5 m?
Give your answer to 2.s.f.
